Wrapper Quick Guide
- Connecticut: cream, cedar, and almond, with a gentle, approachable character
- Habano: medium body with spice and depth
- Maduro: richer and sweeter, with cocoa and dried fruit
What the Wrapper Tells You
The wrapper is the leaf you taste first, and it shapes the opening impression more than any other part of the cigar. Body — how much weight the smoke carries on the palate — is a separate question from flavor, which is what you actually taste. A cigar can be rich in flavor without being heavy in body, and the other way round.
Recommendation
Start from the flavors you already enjoy in coffee, chocolate or whiskey and pick the wrapper that matches: cream and nuts point to Connecticut, spice to Habano, cocoa and sweetness to Maduro. Smoke two or three before you decide, and tell the crew what you noticed — that is faster than any chart.
